Jeff Beck Format: Audio CD Rock Editorial Review
**** "Emotion & Commotion" serves as a profound testament to Jeff Beck's evolution as an artist, showcasing his extraordinary guitar prowess while embracing a newfound depth of emotion. Many reviewers praise the album for its beauty and the remarkable expressiveness of Beck's guitar work, drawing parallels with legends like Carlos Santana who similarly infuse their music with substantial feeling. The album transcends traditional rock Constructs, compelling listeners with its exploration of both obscure and familiar themes. Critics have noted that while some tracks initially garnered mixed feedback, a closer listen reveals their brilliance. The collaboration with Tal Wilkenfeld, Vinnie Colaiuta, and Jason Rebello has also been highlighted for contributing a rich, creative sound that complements Beck's innovative style. Listeners frequently find themselves entranced, with many expressing a desire to replay the album immediately after it ends. Standout tracks such as "Over the Rainbow," "Nessun Dorma," and "Elegy for Dunkirk" are frequently mentioned for their haunting beauty and strong emotional resonance. The fusion of rock elements with orchestral strings not only showcases Beck's skill but also illustrates his career-long ability to reinvent himself without losing his musical essence. Overall, "Emotion & Commotion" is celebrated as a crowning achievement in Beck's illustrious career, often recommended for those willing to embrace an emotionally charged listening experience. **
