The book refutes many old psychological type theories and has a lot of classic Jungian religious connection stuff before it gets to Jung's theory of personality types. It offers penetrating insights into the human psyche's deeper layers, and it lays out personality types in order for individuals to find their way to individuation. It's a personality inventor beyond the superficial, beyond the MBPI. However, it can be overwhelming for readers who are new to Jung's works because of Jung's unique lexicon of German, Latin, French, Greek, and archaic scientific words and phrases without translation. On top of that, he has a variety of a hundred or so words he's coined to describe certain attributes in psychology. But if you read (and comprehend) this book, you will understand why Jung was so mad at Myers/Briggs for their "Personality Test," which, by the way, is entirely based on this book.
