Questions et réponses des clients
-
question:
What is Ardex Feather Finish used for?
répondre: Ardex Feather Finish is a versatile self-drying cement-based compound primarily used for smoothing and leveling interior floors. It is perfect for preparing surfaces before the installation of tiles, carpet, or other floor coverings. This product offers a smooth finish that sets within a short time, making it ideal for renovations and quick fixes in both residential and commercial spaces. -
question:
Can Ardex Feather Finish be used outdoors?
répondre: While Ardex Feather Finish is designed for interior applications, it should not be used outdoors. Its composition is optimized for indoor environments, ensuring proper adhesion and performance on indoor surfaces. Using it externally might compromise its effectiveness due to exposure to varying weather conditions and moisture levels. -
question:
How do you apply Ardex Feather Finish?
répondre: Application of Ardex Feather Finish is straightforward. Begin by mixing it with water according to the manufacturer's instructions, creating a smooth, lump-free mixture. Use a trowel to spread the compound over the surface, ensuring an even layer. It can be feathered into surrounding materials, allowing for a seamless transition. This product is ideal for quick patches and small areas needing leveling. -
question:
What surfaces can Ardex Feather Finish be applied to?
répondre: Ardex Feather Finish adheres well to various surfaces, including concrete, existing tile, vinyl, and wood. Before application, make sure the surface is clean, dry, and free from contaminants. This flexibility allows users to revamp their floors without complete removal of existing materials, making it an efficient solution for repairs and updates. -
question:
How long does it take for Ardex Feather Finish to dry?
répondre: Ardex Feather Finish typically dries quickly, usually within a few hours under standard conditions. However, full curing time may vary depending on environmental factors like humidity and temperature. Always ensure that the area is well-ventilated to promote faster drying. This quick turnaround makes it an excellent choice for projects requiring minimal downtime. -
question:
Is Ardex Feather Finish suitable for radiantly heated floors?
répondre: Yes, Ardex Feather Finish is suitable for use over radiant heating systems. It has good thermal conductivity, allowing heat to transfer effectively. Ensure that the heating system is turned off during installation to prevent rapidly drying out the compound, which can affect its bond and final finish. This compatibility is particularly valuable for homeowners seeking enhanced comfort in their living spaces. -
question:
What is the coverage area for one bag of Ardex Feather Finish?
répondre: One 10 lb bag of Ardex Feather Finish typically covers approximately 40 to 50 square feet at a 1/8 inch thickness. Coverage can vary depending on surface texture and application technique. For extensive repair work, calculating the total area beforehand ensures you purchase enough product for your needs, preventing interruptions in your project. -
question:
Can Ardex Feather Finish be painted or stained?
répondre: Once fully cured, Ardex Feather Finish can be painted or stained, allowing for customization to match your design preferences. It's recommended to use a compatible primer before painting to ensure better adhesion. This property provides flexibility in aesthetic choices, making it an excellent option for areas where a specific look is desired. -
question:
Can Ardex Feather Finish be used in wet areas like bathrooms?
répondre: Ardex Feather Finish is designed for use in semi-wet areas but may not be the best choice for areas exposed to constant water immersion, such as showers. It is suitable for bathroom floors and can be used effectively under tiles if proper care is taken. This versatility allows homeowners to refresh their spaces while ensuring the finish is compatible with traditional bathroom installations. -

Ardex Contact Cements Editorial Review
Ardex Feather Finish Grey Self-Drying cement is a versatile product that can be used on several surfaces, including plywood, concrete, and parquet floors. Users can apply the product over black mastic, and it can be painted over. Although the company recommends using it only indoors, some users have found success using it outside. One user mixed the cement with powdered color. However, some users have reported difficulty with the product. They warn that the area each bag covers is not that large and that the suggested water ratio is inadequate. One user found it challenging to work with, while another revealed that they had to mix small batches. Overall, users who followed the instructions and kept the water ratio correct for the application did not have problems with the product.
